John L. Harris, a respected member of the civic and political life of the City of Hancock and in the mining industry of the Copper Country, was born in Eagle Harbor, Keweenaw County, Michigan, June 21, 1868. He was a member of the first class to enter the Michigan Mining School (now Michigan Technological University) in 1886, and was graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in 1888, and in 1916 was granted the Degree of Engineer of Mines as a recognition of his contributions to the mining ind...
